Network Intrusion Prevention Systems
Network IPS sit inline on the network, statefully analyzing packet content and blocking certain packets that match a signature and alerting on others. A NIPS protection is based on the content of packets. Rate based products are referred to as Attack Mitigation Systems there is some crossover between the two categories of products where Rate Based products will check content and vice versa, therefore it is suggested that visitors view both pages when researching devices.
